Queensbridge-rapparen berättar även i ny intervju om favoritsamarbetet någonsin + listar sina tio bästa hiphop-album genom alla tider.
DJ Khaled träffade nyligen Nas i We The Best Radio på Beats 1 och gick direkt på djupet och tillbaka till tiden när “Illmatic” släpptes. Khaled visade upp en bild på Nas och Biggie från en studiosession och ställde frågan vad som egentligen kom ut från det kreativa mötet. Nas svarade genom att berätta hur Biggie 1994-1995 ville ha med Nas på “Gimmie The Loot”-remix, eftersom de två New York-giganterna inte hade samarbetat på sina debutalbum “Illmatic” och/eller “Ready to Die”. Dock så blev det ingen musik inspelad och Nas berättar:
“He put up the beat and I started writing, but then he started smoking this shit. He had some of that chocolate and uh, he lit some of that up…so we kinda, like, lit and I was like ‘I ain’t got nothing’. I was sayin’ ‘this is over today.’”
Nas fortsatte beskriva att kvällen med Biggie som inte blev så produktiv i retrospekt:
“I knew it was a wrap for me that night and um, you know, he went on and did that [track] without me,” concluding his anecdote of the evening in question by saying “after witnessing that genius, I just went home.”
